Description

Globally, women account for more than half of people living with HIV, with younger women in sub-Saharan Africa at particularly high risk of HIV acquisition. Oral PrEP, an antiretroviral pill taken daily to prevent HIV, is just beginning to be introduced in much of sub-Saharan Africa and could have a major impact in curbing new infections. With support from the Hellman Fellows Fund, Dr. Koss will seek to understand engagement in the PrEP care continuum among women in East Africa to inform the development of strategies to maximize the effective implementation of this important prevention modality.
