Description

To protect and improve the health of all, the California Tuberculosis Control Branch (TBCB) provides leadership and resources to prevent and control tuberculosis (TB). The vision of the Tuberculosis Control Branch is to speed the decline of TB morbidity and mortality.

Tuberculosis disease was once the leading cause of death in the United States. Today, however, people with active TB disease can be treated and cured if they seek medical help. Even better, people with latent TB infection can take medicine so they will not develop active TB disease.

UCSF collaborates to implement newly developed tools to improve identification of persons with recent tuberculosis infection and to more effectively target treatment to persons at high risk for developing the disease. Provides analysis, database management, and epidemiological consultation to state and local TB programs.
