Taste for the Cure and a Taste of Science

UCSF’s Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center is holding “Taste for the Cure: A Taste of Science,’’ a day for exploring the impact that food and science have on breast health. The event, free and open to the public, will feature health food tastings offered by local chefs, nutritional information, and a cooking demonstration highlighting quick, easy and healthy recipes.
Presentations will include panel discussions among breast cancer specialists on a variety of topics of interest to breast cancer survivors. Scientific displays detailing the current work of UCSF’s Breast Care Center researchers concerning breast health and breast cancer will be available, and representatives from the center will be on hand to answer questions. The day will end with entertainment by UCSF breast cancer treatment pioneer Dr. Laura Esserman and her band.

12:15 - 12:45 p.m.: Cooking demonstrations
1 – 2 p.m.: Panel 1: “Young Women and Cancer’’
2:30 – 3:45 p.m.: Panel 2: “Surviving Well After Cancer: What Can Make It Better’’
3:45 – 4:15 p.m.: Musical entertainment by Laura Esserman and her band
