In addition to my clinical position at SFGH Family Health Center and my academic position on the faculty at UCSF I am a doctoral student in the Department of Anthropology, History and Social Medicine persuing fieldwork in Cuba. My areas of interest are in Latin America/Caribbean, social determinants of health, mental health, structural violence. 

From 2001-2007, I co-directed the Rural Health Education Alliance, collaborating with the ministry of health and local nonprofits in Ecuador. 

From 2008-2015 I have worked as a nurse practitioner with the San Francisco General Hospital Refugee Clinic.
