Description

Refractive errors are a major cause of vision disability. They cause blurred vision due to a defective accommodation of light into the retina of the eye. India accounts for most of the of the uncorrected refractive error burden. The clinically relevant threshold for prescribing eyeglasses for uncorrected refractive errors is still unclear. The lack of protocols to evaluate for clinically relevance can lead to inconsistent glasses prescription. This study aims at evaluating current practices and developing protocol recommendations for increasing the uptake, quality and consistency of refractive eye services being provided at outreach camps and vision centers in India.
