Description

Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for the highest burden of HIV in pregnancy with Nigeria accounting for one third of the entire global burden. As efforts are being made to increase retention rates in PMTCT (Prevention of mother to Child Transmission of HIV) programs in Nigeria, supply side assessments are increasingly integral to the success of these programs. The New Incentives program is currently using conditional cash transfers to incentivize HIV positive pregnant women to access PMTCT services at already established health facilities in the southern part of Nigeria where there are high HIV prevalence rates. This quality improvement study assessed the supply side of PMTCT service delivery in Cross River State of southern Nigeria.
