The scope of work for this contract will be to facilitate the development of data that will build upon the work done on surgery and public health in the DCP-2 chapter for which Dr. Haile Debas was the lead author. Specifically, data relating to: the burden of surgical relative to the total burden of disease in Uganda; and developing a method for determining and measuring effective management of surgical conditions to compute the % being done properly. To the best of the Government’s knowledge California University San Francisco is the only known source that can develop data on surgery and public health in East Africa and plan for dissemination of data that we require.
