Description

Developing an breast fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy service in Trujillo Peru. This project is a collaboration with PATH. The project is intended to help screen and diagnose early breast cancer in rural and underserved areas. The curriculum we developed is intended to serve a model for developing breast FNA services in other countries. We will be collaborating with the Peru National Cancer Institute, Regional Cancer Institute, and Ministry of Health to expand the community-based program for improving breast health to the whole country. I am also interested in eploring explore the biological implications of breast cancer protective variants in Latin American women with high indigenous American heritage.
