Compañeros en Salud in Chiapas, Mexico
Location(s): Mexico
Description
I have been working in global health with Compañeros en Salud in Chiapas, Mexico since 2012, and am currently the Director of Research in a close collaboration with Partners in Health. This collaboration supports 10 clinics in the region of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas, the poorest state in Mexico, where 75% of the population lives in poverty. In this area, clinics serve patients in over 142 communities. The inhabitants of these rural communities tend to lack access to basic health services because of their remote location, lack of public and poor road conditions transportation.
I also serve as a site mentor for the HEAL fellows working in Chiapas, and conduct my own research in community health work.
