Description

This study is being conducted at UCSF Hospital, the purpose of the study is to validate a simple, non-invasive method for clinicians in the field to assess when the NASG, a reusable, washable, first aid device, is no longer able to provide adequate pressure to decrease hemorrhage.  Working with ultrasound experts from the UCSF Emergency Department, the study correlates blood flow and vessel size and pressure with a low tech external pressure sensor.  Once the correlations are made between ultrasound and external pressure are finalized, we will have parameters that will be easy to use, not only for clinicians, but also for quality control during manufacture of NASGs.
