Description

Haiti has one of the highest rates of tuberculosis in the western hemisphere, approximately 23% of whom are coinfected with HIV. In order to address this disease syndemic, the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors on behalf of the Haiti Ministry of Health is piloting an integrated case-based surveillance system designed to track both diseases in real-time. This study examined the structure and performance of the system, identified strengths and weaknesses, and produced recommendations for improvement.
