Mentor: Dr. Fatima Karaki and Dr. Krysia Lindan

Since the start of the Syrian civil war in 2011, more than one million Syrian refugees have fled to Lebanon and now account for more than 20% of that country’s total population. Many Syrians live in Palestinian refugee camps formed decades ago. Burj el-Barajneh is an urban refugee camp in Beirut, and houses more than 42,000 people of different nationalities of whom about 23,000 are Syrian refugees.

What are the barriers and facilitators to accessing health care among Syrian refugees at Burj el-Barajneh refugee camp in Beirut, Lebanon, as perceived by both Syrian refugees and healthcare workers (HCWs)?
