Investigator: Laura M. Gottlieb, MD

Location(s): United States

SIREN was created in the spring of 2016 to respond to the need for more rigorous evidence on the impacts of clinical interventions addressing patients’ social needs. Housed at the University of California, San Francisco, SIREN will:

  • Collect, summarize, and disseminate relevant research resources and findings on clinical interventions addressing patients’ medical needs through an interactive website and evidence library;
  • Catalyze high quality research to fill evidence gaps and support a network of researchers in this area by developing consensus research priorities; providing research funding; and creating opportunities for researchers in this field to collaborate and learn from each other; and
  • Increase the capacity of safety-net and mission-aligned health systems to evaluate SDH interventions by providing evaluation, research, and analytics consultation services.
