Probiotic Outcomes of Enteric Microbiota
Location(s): United States
The Lynch Lab advances the understanding of chronic inflammatory diseases and disorders by examining relationships between complex microbial community composition, bacterial behavior and host immune response. The multidisciplinary group includes microbial ecologists, bacterial physiologists and physician scientists, dedicated to applying recently developed culture-independent tools to examine the role of the human microbiome in defining states of health and disease.
Our team is primarily interested in understanding microbial-host interactions in pulmonary and gastrointestinal tracts of patients with chronic inflammatory diseases. Our research program examines aspects of microbiome composition and function related to:
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Sinus disease
- Cystic Fibrosis
- HIV-infected populations
