Over 37 million people are living with HIV, with more than 2 million new infections per year. Although suppressive treatments are adequate, there is no cure; virus is harbored in a Latent viral reservoir and patients must remain on therapy for life. This grant will allow the field to study ways to eliminate the viral reservoir, by validating and characterizing animal models and creating a novel way to measure the Latent reservoir.
