The UCSF Viral Diagnostics and Discovery Center, established with support from Abbott Diagnostics, is located in the 1st floor of the UCSF China Basin campus, immediately adjacent to Lobby 4. The center is a core facility that uses novel metagenomics-based technologies (the ViroChip and ultra high-throughput sequencing on an Illumina Genetic Analyzer II) for viral pathogen detection / discovery in clinical specimens.
