Description

The rate of type 2 diabetes among ethnic minorities has increased significantly in the United States; in particular, Chinese Americans suffer diabetes at a high prevalence in California. However, developing effective health care for Chinese Americans is limited by lack of information about cultural beliefs and practices. As Chinese Americans changed their dietary patterns and exposed to the same risk factors as indigenous people, the risk pattern of getting diabetes may get closer. My Capstone will focus on the effects of cultural beliefs and practices on the management of type 2 diabetes among the second generation of Chinese American
