Description

My global health focus is directed towards developing capacity in mental health services. In that capacity, I am mentoring fellows within the HEAL initiative, which offers a two-year fellowship in Global Mental Health in partnership with Dept of Psychiatry at UCSF. The goal is to train psychiatrists as leaders in clinical practice, capacity building, health systems-strengthening and health services research in low-resource settings in the United States and abroad. In 2017 our mental health sites are in the Navajo Nation and Nepal.

I have previous experience (University of Michigan and Duke University) with student and resident trainees on global health projects in Haiti, Kenya, India (Tamil Nadu), Ecuador, and the Navajo Nation.  I have done other work in Mongolia.   My goal is to transition to global mental health full time within 5 years, hoping to be involved with UCSF in ongoing and intensive projects.
