Description

The UW/UCSF-GIVI Joint Symposium on HIV Research in Women was a project of the Centers for AIDS Research of the University of Washington and University of California, San Francisco – Gladstone Institute of Virology and Immunology. The theme for this initial event was “AIDS 2031:  Looking Back to Look Forward”, partnering with the aids2031 (www.aids2031.org) group to highlight the need to critically look at the last 25 years of the AIDS epidemic in order to plan the research agenda for women in future years.

2031 will mark 50 years since the first report of AIDS. While great strides have been made, there are persisting as well as emerging challenges that must be addressed. Based on innovative thinking, critical analysis and public debate,aids2031 will publish a book, AIDS: Taking a Long Term View, that charts options to achieve the best possible outcome for the future.
