Description

The McClymonds Youth and Family Center' Community Program serves youth ages 12 – 19, and provides opportunities to address institutional gaps in their communities through conducting needs assessments, organizing their peers, and creating dynamic community projects.  Projects have included a campaign for nonviolence through the arts; starting a youth-run sound recording studio; and organizing youth to address gaps in college preparation services for young people. Youth in groups will gain real-world skills in multi-media programs, project development, public speaking, event planning and more.  Additionally, youth work with adult coaches and experienced youth coaches to create a safe place to learn about themselves, each other and the social issues that impact young people.

An innovative collaborative of nonprofit school-linked support service providers including the Children’s Hospital Oakland, Oakland Kids First, and SPAAT.  MYFC is located at the campus of McClymonds High School and serves 250 youth annually.
