Description

Latent Tuberculosis Infection Testing and Voluntary 3HP Treatment: a Pilot Study at an Overseas Panel Site in Vietnam for U. S-Bound Immigrants

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is currently a TB Trials Consortium (TBTC) member focused on conducting programmatically relevant clinical, laboratory and epidemiologic research concerning the diagnosis, clinical management, and prevention of tuberculosis infection and disease. It is the only TBTC member working and affiliated with a TB study site in Vietnam, and has an established working relationship with the Vietnam National TB Program, including local approval to conduct TB research in Vietnam, and has existing public health collaboration with the California Department of Public Health.

As the only TBTC member affiliated with a TB study site in Vietnam, UCSF has not only the infrastructure and method of operations to conduct TB research work in Vietnam, but also has a critical understanding of the laws, rules, and regulations in Vietnam that scientific research might be subject to and thus is fully set-up to obtain local IRB approvals and local approvals for the use of the 3HP treatment drugs.
